Our SJA Rec Soccer Program, designed for beginner and intermediate players, encourages skill development in a supportive environment. It is open to athletes who are not currently participating in travel or club soccer.

SJA Rec Soccer Program
The SJA Rec Soccer Program is designed for beginner and intermediate players, offering a fun and supportive environment to build skills and a love for the game. Participation is open to students who are not currently playing on travel or club teams or on the SJA Middle School Soccer team.
Practice & Season Dates
Practices begin in late August, and the season runs through early November. Weekly practices are held at St. James Academy, with days and times determined by each team’s coach. Games take place on Saturdays at Carroll Manor Rec Council (CMRC) fields.
Age Groups
Teams are organized by birth year, not grade level. SJA fields U8, U10, and U12 boys and girls teams through our partnership with CMRC. Players may choose to play up based on experience. Team placement is determined by the Athletic Director. Please note that team formation depends on reaching minimum registration numbers.
Important for 5th Grade Families
5th graders participating in SJA Middle School Soccer are not eligible for Rec Soccer.
Volunteers Needed
Our program depends on parent volunteers. Please consider serving as a coach, assistant coach, or team manager. Your involvement helps make this program possible.
Kindergarten Eligibility
Kindergarten students who participated in Hot Shots or a similar program as PK4 students are eligible to join Rec Soccer.
Hot Shots Program
Hot Shots is designed for boys and girls ages 4–5 (born in 2021 or 2022). This introductory program focuses on fun, fundamentals, and basic soccer skills in a supportive environment.
- Season Dates: Begins in early September and runs through late October
- Location: St. James Academy
- Cleats: Not required but recommended
