Student Life

Students at SJA are encouraged to discover and explore the world around them. With many opportunities and the support of the entire St. James community, students graduate well prepared to lead creative, compassionate, and productive lives.

Student Leadership Council

Middle School students at St. James Academy can make a meaningful impact through leadership roles in the Student Leadership Council. This self-nominated, peer-elected group organizes fundraisers, Middle School dances, and other initiatives, fostering teamwork, planning, and leadership skills.

Leadership opportunities extend to Grades 3–8 through the student-run Student Council, which includes elected classroom representatives and leadership officers. The Council organizes activities like bake sales, casual dress days, and dances, with proceeds supporting charitable causes or school improvements.

Eighth-grade officers serve as school ambassadors, representing St. James Academy at key events such as the Academic Convocation, Christmas Program, and Moving-Up Day. They also assist with New Student Orientation, Grandparents’ Day, and Open House. Guided by the Student Council Faculty Advisor, these leaders meet weekly to plan events and address school initiatives, fostering a strong sense of service and community.

Teen Centers and Dances

St. James Academy offers Middle School students multiple opportunities throughout the year to socialize outside the school day. Teen Centers are held in the St. James Center. Student Council sponsored dances are held in Macdonald Hall. At Teen Centers, you may play basketball, volleyball, or ping-pong in the gym or enjoy music provided by a DJ in the activity rooms. Student Council dances do not include activities in the gym.
