St. James Academy’s Student Council is a student-run organization consisting of student leadership officers, as well as elected representatives from each classroom in Grades 3 through 8.

The Student Council plans and carries out school activities and service projects. Student Council holds monthly meetings throughout the school year and all students are invited to contribute suggestions or new ideas through their classroom representatives.

Each year, the Student Council coordinates bake sales and casual dress days for the entire school community. In addition, Student Council members organize dances for middle school students throughout the year. Money raised through these fundraisers is donated to charitable causes or gifted to the school.

The Student Council officers are members of the Eighth Grade and serve as ambassadors for the school during the year. They are integral in the Academic Convocation, Christmas Program, and Moving-Up Day each year. Officers assist during New Student Orientation, Grandparents’ Day, and Open House presentations each year. These school leaders meet weekly to organize events and discuss school related issues under the supervision of the Student Council Faculty Advisor.

Teen Centers and Dances

St. James Academy offers Middle School students multiple opportunities throughout the year to socialize outside the school day. Teen Centers are held in the St. James Center. Student Council sponsored dances are held in Macdonald Hall. At Teen Centers, you may play basketball, volleyball, or ping-pong in the gym or enjoy music provided by a DJ in the activity rooms. Student Council dances do not include activities in the gym.
