I feel truly fortunate to have transitioned into a new role as reading specialist here at St. James Academy. I couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming and supportive environment.
Prior to joining the faculty at SJA, I was a classroom teacher for twelve years. Additionally, I supported teachers, school administrators, and public school districts with the provision of specialized instruction.
When our son graduated from Friends School in 2020, I reflected on his journey as a student with dyslexia and how his access to Orton-Gillingham tutoring changed his academic trajectory. I decided to become Orton-Gillingham trained so that more students would have access to this “gold standard” reading, spelling, and writing instruction.
My son has completed his first year at the College of Wooster and my daughter has completed her first year of graduate school at the University of Baltimore. Our family lives in Monkton and in my spare time I enjoy running, pilates, reading, writing, and hiking.
