Christmas Shoppe Committee

November 8h & 9th, 2024

The Parents’ Association has hosted this beloved Academy event for decades. It takes many hands to turn SJA into a Christmas Wonderland, almost overnight, and host over 40 vendors and a gourmet café for the weekend. A strong sense of community and pride in St. James Academy is evident when the doors of the Academy open to our family, friends and to the public. This is the PA’s biggest fundraiser and community builder for the school during a non-benefit year; a benefit occurs every few years, while Christmas Shoppe happens every year. Committee members will plan the most festive holiday party of the year – Mistletoe Mingle. They will be involved in the planning, draft event communications, book vendors, prepare graphic design/printed materials, decorate the Academy, manage wine and café sales, design/update the CS website, recruit, and work alongside Middle School and parent/grandparent volunteers and work with Christmas Shoppe subcommittees. Committee members oversee/help with event setup and cleanup. The Christmas Shoppe Committee is supported by the Parents’ Association President. All proceeds will go to the Parents’ Association.

Planning starts in the summer and continues through November.

Jingle Bell Junction Committee

Each homeroom is assigned a designated time for shopping. Each student has an opportunity to purchase something special for Mom, Dad, siblings, and pets. All items are $2.00 each. After picking out their gifts, children take a group photo with Santa and receive a candy cane. A cookie will be waiting in their classroom upon their return.

Committee members will select table coverings, centerpieces, cake, food, drinks, music, etc. The MS Coordinator will work with the school to handle the logistics of the event. This luncheon is funded by class dues collected from K-7th grades at the beginning of the year and is supplemented by Parents’ Association, as necessary. This event will take place on the last day of school, following the Farewell Assembly. Graduates may invite family members/special guests to share in their graduation celebration.
