What does St. James Academy mean to you? It means family, creating and building strong relationships that last a lifetime.
What do you want the students to learn from you? Learning does not end in school; learning is something that continues through adulthood and never ends.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Spending time with my husband, and two daughters. Going to Ocean City with my extended family.
Who inspired you growing up? My teachers throughout my schooling inspired me. My favorite teacher taught me to be friends with everyone, and that learning should be fun.
If could meet one famous person who would it be and why? Torrey Smith (even though he doesn’t play for the Ravens anymore). Not only is Torrey an amazing athlete, but he is also extremely involved with the community and volunteering. In college, at the University of Maryland, he was a top student and continues to attend college courses, while working in the NFL.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know. I am a huge University of Alabama football fan. I try to attend one game in Alabama each year. Also, Mrs. Baranowski and I have known each other since we were 3 and went to elementary, middle, and high school together. The friendships I see here at SJA, remind me so much of the one we share. Sometimes, the friendships you make, really do last a lifetime.
Last weekend was the Middle School Drama Production of West Side Story. The students graced the Susan Tucker Moore Theatre stage with confidence and originality as they brought to life the story of young lovers caught between prejudice and warring street gangs.
With less than $1 million left to raise for the “Honoring our Legacy & Strengthening our Future Campaign,” every dollar counts! Make your pledge today!
“Since Kindergarten, SJA has provided our children with a safe and comfortable environment in which to learn and develop. We chose SJA because of its known quality education and community-type environment. We believe in the quality education program SJA provides, and feel that it is of utmost importance to help continue to build a strong teacher base and grow the endowment by supporting this capital campaign. After all, our teachers are what makes our school so great!”
Christmas at St. James Academy is the most wonderful and magical time of year. One of the many traditions celebrated is our very own Jingle Bell Junction. This event brought holiday cheer to children and adults. The Susan Tucker Moore Theatre is transformed into a Winter Wonderland where all of the students, from Kindergarten through 8th Grade, came to “shop” for holiday gifts for their family members and even their pets! Santa visits with the students and students eat homemade cookies as a special treat. Each item could be purchased for only $1 and is a “recycled” gift donated by SJA families throughout the year. The “Elves” (parent and grandparent volunteers) wrap each gift and deliver them to the classroom for the children to take home. Read More
