Welcome From Charlotte Riggs, Head of School

I am honored and excited to begin serving as Head of School at St. James Academy and to join this wonderful school community. While getting settled on campus, I have received a very warm welcome from faculty and staff, the administrative team, parents, alumni, students, and the Board of Trustees.

The philosophy of St. James Academy to pursue knowledge, build community, and serve others as children become citizens of a global community both inspires and resonates with me as an educator. I care deeply about an academic environment where children can be challenged and supported in every aspect of their school lives.  Drawing from my time in the classroom, on the sidelines, and as an administrator, I am committed to continuing the strong academic tradition at St. James while upholding the importance of fostering outstanding individuals. I am thrilled to be part of an Episcopal school that emphasizes the important balance of knowledge, community and a global perspective.

I look forward to developing meaningful partnerships: with parents to raise extraordinary young men and women, with faculty and staff who are passionate about teaching and truly care for their students, with a board that is committed to supporting the school with its time and talents, with an administration sharing wisdom and expertise, with our new Rector and the St. James parish, with alumni who care deeply about their alma mater and its success, and with students who are bright, kind, creative, driven, and spirited about this community.

I am eager to get to know more members of the community and to work with each of you to build upon the strengths of this remarkable school. I’ve already learned about many of the students’ favorite traditions, and I can’t wait to experience them firsthand.
