Planning for the 2011-2012 School Year
... from Nancy Groff, Treasurer, SJA Board of Trustees
At this time annually the Academy administration and Board of Trustees begin planning for the next academic year. Part of the budgetary process is the determination of next year’s operational and student needs and decisions of how best to meet these needs. Ever-escalating expenditures are met in several ways; nevertheless, SJA’s primary source of revenue is tuition. Setting tuition levels is given prayerful thought and careful analysis to strike a balance between affordability, accessibility, our renowned frugality, and SJA’s excellence. To provide the excellent education we expect at SJA costs rise despite turbulent economic times. After much deliberation and a thorough study of prudent budgetary requirements, the Board has set tuition for next year as follows:
2011-2012
Kindergarten - $ 9,900
Discoveries - $11,100 (3 Day) $11,900 (5 Day)
Pre-first - Grade 5 $14,700
Grades 6-8 - $15,100
Book and supplies fee $525 (due by 2/1/11)
Tuition deposit $500 (due by 2/1/11)
Activities fee $175 (K-5) and $225 (6-8).
The Academy proudly supports optimum teacher-to-student ratios, rigorous educational programs, increasing staff and faculty compensation, and maintaining an impeccable physical plant while attempting to set as reasonable a tuition level as possible.
