Overview:
Students apply Year 1 and Year 2 skills to implement the Design Cycle to increase their knowledge and awareness of a specific topic. An independent research project on a self selected topic allows students to investigate a question as they move through the components of the cycle. Information and communication technologies are emphasized to increase awareness and perspective of the world in which the students live.

Information Literacy, organizing information, communicating effectively; Applying MLA Format; Reflecting on the research and communication process

MYP projects using the IB Design Cycle

IB MYP Year 3 Aims and Objectives
At the end of Year 3, students should be able to:
• formulate and discuss appropriate questions that guide the investigation;
• identify and acknowledge a range of appropriate sources of information;
• collect, analyze, select, organize, and evaluate information;
• evaluate the sources of information;
• construct a plan to create and implement the product that has a series of logical steps;
• follow the plan to produce the product;
• explain how the product could be improved;
• carry out units of work in technology using materials safely and responsibly;
• provide evidence of personal engagement with the subject.
