Financial assistance is awarded during a confidential process to families with students entering Kindergarten-Grade 8. Awards are made by the Board of Trustees’ Finance Committee on the basis of need. Need-based financial assistance is defined as assistance awarded to a student for whom the total school expenses are greater than his or her family’s ability to contribute toward education. The amount of financial aid received corresponds to the difference between these levels and is related to the SJA funds available for distribution to all qualified families in any given year. We are proud that 12% of tuition revenue is designated per year for need-based tuition assistance
Based on the long-standing commitment of the National Association of Independent Schools, financial assistance is conceived as need-based. Financial assistance is offered to students only on the basis of their family’s demonstrated need. By using a nationally applied standard known as “need analysis” uniformly applied to all types of families, aid officers attempt to measure in a fair and equitable manner each family’s ability to pay.
