Strategic Goals

As responsible stewards, the Academy's Board of Trustees and the Vestry of Saint James Church have identified several vital needs to uphold our tradition of excellence. We are committed to:
• Maintaining the well-deserved reputation of the Academy as a strong, viable independent K-8 school offering one of the finest academic and spiritual educations in the area;
• Providing safe, suitable, and dedicated space for physical education, fitness conditioning, and team sports for all children; enhancing our instrumental and vocal music, and dramatic arts programs to educate, expand and appreciate the potential of each child; focusing on individual needs through flexible classroom space for small group instruction, a hallmark of the Academy; and
• Providing additional space through the St. James Center and Susan Tucker Moore Theatre, for spiritual, educational, athletic, and performing arts spaces to serve as gathering places for St. James and the wider community. These areas are designed as inspirational witnesses to our presence within the community.

Objectives

• To provide for the development of the intellectual, emotional, spiritual, physical, and social growth of each individual student.
• To maintain a positive environment and caring atmosphere that nurture close interpersonal relationships.
• To provide opportunities for students to achieve their full potential.
• To expose the children to language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, foreign language, performing and visual arts, religious instruction, physical education, and information technology to encourage each student to become self-motivated and well-rounded.
• To enable students to become lifelong learners and apply knowledge in everyday situations.
As with all endeavors at St. James, we are supported by a strong volunteer base, families, and friends of the St. James community.
