St. James Academy is a Kindergarten through Eighth Grade, coeducational Episcopal parish day school open to students of any race, color, national, religious, or ethnic origin.
The School community believes that it is essential to maintain rigorous academic standards within a Christian environment, while at the same time to provide individual attention and personal concern for each student. Our student-teacher ratio enables small group instruction in a creative, understanding, and positive atmosphere thereby helping to maximize student achievement.
A solid foundation in the areas of language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, world language, and information technology enhances the possibilities for student success. We promote the careful development of academic excellence which lays the foundation for continuing success in later years. The integration of the performing and visual arts with the academic curriculum encourages the student to become self-confident and to appreciate a broad range of human experience. Physical development and well-being is stressed by participation in a program of physical education. The school supports the belief that the spiritual and moral needs of the student should be recognized and addressed in day-to-day relationships as well as in daily prayer, regular worship, and, at the middle school level, religious instruction.
Parent participation in many aspects of the school adds to the child’s sense of his/her education being a part of a larger framework of life and the community. The cooperative and dedicated involvement of parents, faculty, and staff helps to maintain a close and nurturing relationship among all constituencies of the school.
