 Course objectives:

• Students will apply information literacy standards.
• Students will write a formal research paper and share their findings in an oral presentation.

Concepts covered:

• Locating appropriate information
• Evaluating research tools
• Identifying effective and efficient keywords
• Creating thesis statements
• Developing source cards and note cards
• Synthesizing and organizing information
• Summarizing research
• Developing a Works Cited
• Evaluating written work
• Oral Communication

Grading policy: Evaluation is based on a project rubric.

          Note Cards                     20%

          Written Paper                40%

          Works Cited                   15%

          Oral Presentation            15%

          Time Management            10%

 Homework policy:  Students will spend a minimum of three nights per week on the research paper. It is expected that time each night will vary based on other commitments, and all time will be recorded in research notebooks.
