GRADE ART PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Mrs. Williams
Students receive an effort and letter
grade for Art in the Middle School. Teacher and self-evaluation sheets will be
completed after each unit. Each student is responsible for completing projects
in order to receive full credit. Arrangements can be made with Mrs. Williams to
come in before school or during lunch to work on missed or incomplete projects.
Painting and collage in the
style of a famous artist, mask making, ceramics, printmaking, sculpture drawing
and watercolors. (Units may vary in order to accommodate grade level/classroom
curricular needs.)
The Middle School art program is
based on the study of aesthetics, art criticism, history, and production. Art
activities are designed to develop problem-solving skills while giving the
student a feeling of confidence, security, and self-satisfaction in completion
of task. The art program strives to develop visual literacy, an understanding
and appreciation of art from various cultures, and emphasizes the student’s
creative expressions.
