SEVENTH GRADE ART PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Mrs. Williams

Grading Policy

Students receive an effort and letter grade for Art in the Middle School. Teacher and self-evaluation sheets will be completed after each unit. Each student is responsible for completing projects in order to receive full credit. Arrangements can be made with Mrs. Williams to come in before school or during lunch to work on missed or incomplete projects.

Art Units

Mask making, ceramics, realistic and abstract drawing, one point perspective, watercolor painting, and group collage. (Art units may vary in order to accommodate integration with the classroom curriculum).

Course Objectives

This curriculum strives for a sequential program of instruction based on the study of aesthetics, art criticism, art history, and art production that is relevant to students at their grade level. Whenever possible, activities are selected to make an interdisciplinary connection with other subject areas and life in general. Connections are made between the values, ideas, experiences and expressions of artists, as well as individual students.
