IB MYP Assessment Criteria    

 LANGUAGE A (English)

Criterion A: Content

Students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the language, content, structure, meaning and significance of oral, written and visual texts. They should be able to compare and contrast works, connect themes among literary genres and express an independent response to texts.

Students should be able to create work that employs organizational structure and conventions and organize ideas in a coherent and logical manner.

Criterion C: Style & language mechanics

Students should be able to use language for a variety of purposes, including description, analysis, and persuasion using appropriate grammar, vocabulary, syntax and varied sentence structure.

 MATHEMATICS

Criterion A: Knowledge & understanding

Students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the concepts in the five branches of mathematics and use appropriate strategies and skills to solve problems.

Criterion B: Investigating patterns

Students should be able to recognize and describe patterns, justify mathematical relationships and draw conclusions that are consistent with their findings.

Criterion C: Communication in mathematics

Students should be able to communicate mathematical ideas and reasoning using appropriate language (notations, symbols, terminology) and representations (formulas, charts, graphs, models).

Students should be able to reflect on their problem solving strategies, sharing them with others, explaining whether their results make sense in the context of the problem, and describing the importance of their findings in connection to real life.
